Arch Manning’s first-half stat line looks much like his game against Ohio State last year — 7-for-14 passing, 60 yards, no touchdowns, one interception.
In fairness, though, those numbers don’t tell the whole story. Manning’s propensity to add too much zip on the ball and overthrow his receivers at times is still there. But he also had two stellar deep throws, one each to Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo, that the top two Texas wide receivers could not bring down — and in Coleman’s case, the ball bizarrely caromed off him for an interception.
Manning could easily have over 100 passing yards and two touchdowns, and maybe this game would feel different — but he’s still getting outclassed by Ohio State counterpart Julian Sayin.
